Flop of Kannthil Muthamittal - Slap on Tamil's Face

Note: Being a "Tam" Myself I'm not discounting the below way of thinking in my own actions and thought processes, & blame the rest. but its merely an attempt to pen down the kindaa of masala oriented sentiment relating to srilankan tam's in the minds of tam's of TN. And what those cursed people really would expect from us.


I guess it was around 5th time i'm watching Kannthil muthamittaal. But the thought proc in my mind this time around was totally different. And its out right clear to me why? Because this time around it was not the SL army taking the beating but the LTTE - its is in the verge of falling to Govt forces. The once invinsible Prabakaran in now in catching distance from the army. one by one by one - places like devils point . mullaitheevu all LTTE strong holds are falling to the hands of the army.

Now a days, no matter what time i wake up, let it be 7AM or the f**king 11AM after missing morning classes , the first thing i do is to pick the HINDU paper sneeking through the door gap and fast turn to international news and see what's happening in the srilankan war. No: casualities etc etc as though im the director of RAW who once trained them and now trying to root it out at the sight of them.

Coming back to kannathil muthamitaal. For an outsider it should be puzzling to know why it flopped because in the end its was a good business composition - with sincerily no discredits to maniratnam sir (I really mean it). It had everything world class soul melting music by ARR, Xlent camera work by ravi k chanran and not to mention the screen play of the highest class
by mani sir. particularily You should see how maddy's character is worked up on a straight forward, No senti, Living up on principles, hard core writter - who looks at each incident of his life to get something to write. And that of the small gal . mani sir has really turned in to a child while writing the dialogue . in middle of the army - LTTE encounter "when the child refuses to leave and says ask these(ppl) to leave and ask them(her real mother shama) to come" and "when the child says to her real mother " come to chennai, there is no war no army we can see TV, go to movie" -- Yo cinema rathathula uuuranum ya ..

So when it really had so many good things and in addition to the so called sentiment of TN tamils towards SL tamils and Ezhlam Tamils .. and their linguisic affinity and bla bla bla
